Project Runway: WARNING!! This is potentially going to spoil this season’s picks for Bryant Park, so skip over if you do not want the end of the show ruined for you. I guess 6 is better than 3, because that’s how many designers from Project Runway’s Season 5 were allowed in the tents. Whether or not it was in the hopes of becoming the winner, we shall have to wait and see.
Jerrel- Someone who has always been a little funky, it’s not shocking that he brought that to his runway collection. Every now and then, the judges would comment that his designs were too simple, but there’s no fear of that here. The collection is quirky yet cohesive. And he had Eugena from Top Model! Ha
Joe- Known for his background in sportswear, he surprised me with his kind of rough-and-pretty American wear. Leather, denim, and ladylike, the collection will be a hit or a miss depending on whom you’d ask. But, I admire his efforts. By the way, is that Naima I see?
Kenley- Having always been a child of retro flair, in her personal accessories and aesthetics in design, that’s just what Kenley brought to the runway. Cute, young and fresh, it was what was expected of her and she delivered.
Korto- A little exotic and meticulously made, I don’t think there was anything Korto made this season, or really from her runway collection, that I wouldn’t wear myself. Even the simpler pieces were rich enough due to color choice and the textured fabrics used. She just might be my pick. And again, ANTM cameos, this time from Bianca and Dani(elle).
Leanne- Soft and pretty were the two words that stood out in my mind after seeing Leanne’s collection. The colors were great, the transitions seamless, the construction impeccable, and the subtle elegance of each piece was masterfully done. The competition will have to be between her and Korto.
Suede- Suede thinks that Suede is really cool but it’s pretty safe to say that Suede totally missed the mark here. A look of utter confusion crossed my face as I clicked through his runway show’s pictures; there was not one item, one saving grace in the whole bunch of ensembles he haphazardly put together. I know I liked some of the stuff he did on the show, so I just don’t understand. It was as if a little girl pretending to dress like an adult has designed the collection. I guess some designers work better under restrictions and guidelines. Tacky and all over the place, there was no unity and no appeal here.
